Begin at the port city of Tangiers and make your way down the Atlantic coast to Rabat, home of the Oudaya Kasbah. Afterwards, it is a short jaunt to Casablanca, Morocco’s most populous city and site of the second largest mosque in the world, the Hassan II Mosque. From there, travel south to Marrakech to spend a whole day exploring its souks and monuments, and enjoying some free time to shop, relax, or visit any of the gardens that dot the city. Then head northward, stopping briefly in the town of Beni Mellal on our way to Fes. Spend a whole day here, too, visiting the tanneries, the medrassas, the medina, and the tombs of the Merinids. The next day, journey to the Imperial City of Meknes, which sits in the heart of Morocco’s ‘breadbasket’ country. It is a stone’s throw from here to Volubilis, where the ruins of the former Roman outpost can still be seen and touched. Before the day is over, head to Chefchaouen, the tranquil mountain town that sits amongst the cedar forests of the Rif Mountains. Here is your chance to relax at Ras el Ma, the place where the town’s freshwater spring bursts forth from the earth, or explore the 15th-century restored Kasbah and its adjacent museum. At the end of your journey, head back to Tangiers.
