Begin in the port city of Tangiers, and head south to the colorful town of Tetouan. Explore its bustling medina and lively character before heading to its more peaceful cousin, the tranquil mountain town of Chefchaouen. You have a whole day to explore the unique charms of Chaouen, as it’s called, be it as the source of the mountain spring that nourishes the town, or at the 15th-century restored Kasbah that boasts a beautiful garden in its courtyard. The next day, travel to the Imperial City of Meknes, which was home to the first Alouite sultan, Moulay Idriss. A stone’s throw from Meknes lies the ruins of the Roman outpost of Volubilis, with many of its meticulous mosaics still preserved. Before the day is over, head to Fes to spend the next day exploring. The artistic and intellectual capital of Morocco, Fes is home to artisans and students alike, boasting nearly 200 different craftsmen’s souks and the oldest university in the world. On the last day of your adventure, head back to Tangiers to explore its lively medina.
