Begin in the port city of Tangiers and immediately head south to Fes to explore the craftsmen’s souks in the medina, and visit the Kaouroyine Mosque and University. The next day is one of travel, with your first stop in the mountain town of Ifrane, famed for its great skiing and European atmosphere. Then it’s on to the old mining outpost of Midelt before passing through the mountains and into the Ziz Valley. Your route turns westward, stopping for the night in the sun-baked Dades Valley. The next day, journey through the Boumaine Dades, a small Berber town, before making your way through the base of two opposing 1,000-foot cliffs that form the Todra Gorge. Stop for the night at the desert outpost town of Erfoud to get our rest for the desert excursion the next day. That morning, set out for Merzouga, to visit the Saharan dunes, and enjoy camel trekking in the afternoon. That night, you have the option to stay in a Bedouin tent overnight. In the morning, travel back through the mountains to once again stop briefly in Midelt, but change course and head to the Berber town of Azrou. Stop at Fes for a night’s rest, then return to Tangier the next day.
